The Neanderthal Agenda
Yes, that’s right. Now that PMSH has his much coveted majority, that’s where we’re heading.
One of his backbench mouth-breathers is introducing a private member’s motion to study when exactly a fetus is “human.” Stephen Woodworth is aggressively pro-life – make no mistake, his goal is to make abortion illegal – and this bill allows the Harper regime to get one step closer without PMSH getting his hands dirty.
And for those of you Conservative sycophants who are going to tell me Harper can’t control private member’s motions, that’s bullshit. Don’t suggest for one moment that if a Tory MP wanted to table a motion or bill ending tax breaks and financial hand outs to companies like, say, Caterpillar, he or she wouldn’t be relegated to the back benches faster than you could say “busty hookers.”
Tory MPs have been attempting to reopen the abortion debate for years and I was reminded this morning of a 2009 Star column in which Tory MP Maurice Vellacott sent out a media release describing abortion as a procedure that makes women more available to men.
Seriously.
Former Grit MP Anita Neville said that Vellacott’s beliefs are “an insult to women in this country” and “it gives me great fear should they ever have a majority government.”
Kind of prophetic.
Opening up the Abortion debate would guarantee the Liberals a win in 2015, so, its not going to happen. You’ve been told that over and over again, but, there’s no reasoning with the Left on this issue, so, if you prefer to run around yelling the sky is falling when it isnt, go ahead, not sure what the point is though.
The problem with your comments are, you just dont want to believe that there are a large number of Conservatives who believe in a womans right to choose, who believe in registering guns, and, who could friggin care less about SSM or who you sleep with or who you love…we just dont. You guys have run around for the past 6 years trying to scare voters about what “might” happen, and, all its got you is 3rd place rump party status, maybe its time to try something different.
Just an opinion.
Woodworth is pretty much a single issue politician. He was a trustee in the Waterloo Separate School Board when he decided to spring into federal politics by running in the 1988 fed election… for the Liberals. He was part of Wappel’s “Liberals for Life” gang. So he’s shown where he stands politically, in that he don’t give a crap. He’s for whatever political party that’s all about controlling women’s reproductive organs.
They guy is already in the backbenches. What can Harper possibly do to him apart from kick him out of caucus? (a little heavy-handed at this point)
He won his riding by a healthy margin of 5500 votes but not insurmountable. If he doesn’t have the pulse on his constituents they can surely vote him out next time around.
Billg is right, this is going nowhere. He’s also right that there are a lot of Conservatives who don’t give a rip about SSM, abortion or other hotly contested social issues. There are lots of reasons to vote FOR or AGAINST all of the parties and everyone has their sensitive spots.
