People for a So-Con Ontario

Posted in Uncategorized by gritchik on August 13, 2011

The Star posted this article yesterday about a new anti-Liberal, pro-Conservative political group called People for a Better Ontario.

People for a Better Ontario hopes to convince voters to replace McGuinty with Progressive Conservative Leader Tim Hudak, though the group emphasizes it is not sanctioned by or affiliated with any political party.

Yes, like you, I thought it odd that a group whose only purpose is to try to elect Tim Hudak premier, would suggest that they have no ties to the anti-choice Conservatives. They must think we’re stupid. Oh, wait – make that really stupid:

Christian activist Tristan Emmanuel, campaign manager for the 2009 leadership bid of PC MPP Randy Hillier (Lanark-Frontenac-Lennox and Addington) and now People For A Better Ontario’s development manager, said the group is “small-c conservative” and has nothing to do with Hudak’s campaign.

Yes, you read that right, Tristan Emmanuel is a spokesperson for PFBO. Warren Kinsella has a great post today reminding us all who Tristan Emmanuel really is. A minister, Emmanuel believes that homosexuals are “sexual deviants” and believes that not only is being gay a “choice,” he believes it’s a “bad” one.

If you want to learn more about this Evangelical egomaniac, check this out. He wants to “leave a legacy” – don’t let it be Tim Hudak!

I checked out the PFBO’s website and was struck by a couple of things – aside from multiple grammar errors and the idea that Dalton McGuinty gets re-elected “year after year.” First, PFBO whines, considerably, about how “special interest” groups like Working Families are far too influential. The answer to this? Create their own special interest group.

The website also goes on at length at how this group has absolutely zero, nada, zilch to do with the Ontario Progressive Conservative party. Right. As Randy Hiller’s leadership campaign manager, Emmanuel, would have no ties to the party. Whatever. The site makes a lot of claims about who’s tied to Working Families, however. They should be careful: the courts have said otherwise.

The site also claims to be run by “a board of directors,” but doesn’t divulge who, exactly, is on that board. A bit shady, no?

But make no mistake: socially conservative extremists like Emmanuel are the people backing Hudak. Imagine Rob Ford as premier. Exactly like that.
