Heh. Eleven votes. That would be Scott and his six mods, the two bloggers who started the ruckus and a couple more. And me, dammit, who hit the wrong button trying to find the place to comment. Your place will do nicely, though.

Seriously, you think the amount of votes a post gets somehow makes it more legitimate than others? This isn’t high school. Grow up.

I didn’t bother to vote actually. I’ve better things to do with my time then worry how many votes it gets over a trivial matter such as this.

Human rights are trivial. From the horse’s mouth.

    • Scott-Tribe said, on April 9, 2012 at 8:20 pm

No.. what’s trivial is that with all the things going on out there – because 2 bloggers have dared to express they’re pro-choice up to a point and don’t mind discussing this issue.. we have screaming banschees thinking it’s the end of the world that these folks are being allowed to express their opinion.

I fail to see how human rights are being trivial because we allowed 2 bloggers to say they were pro-choice to a point.

Don’t expect much sympathy from me when you folks complain about being branded anti-Israel and your views cut off by conservative bloggers/sites when you’re critical of the Israeli’s treatment of Palestinians (as I’ve seen many of you do – and probably with some justification in some cases )
when you folks are demanding we do the exact same thing over at Prog Blog.

Really, gritchik? You don’t see a problem with reopening this? Serious question to someone I considered an ally in the anti-Hudak fight.

Reopening what, exactly? You and your friends objected to a couple of posts and you let your views be known.

      So did I.

Reopening the abortion debate. The Bigger Issue. You are OK with Woodworth’s motion?

    • gritchik said, on April 9, 2012 at 11:38 pm

My views on Woodworth’s motion are here.

And I’m no ally to someone who hangs out with the bottom-feeding likes of these folks.

Since Scott has made the Israel point as well, I’m going to add that I have the same reaction to those on the far left who wish to reopen the debate as to whether Zionism is Racism as Fern Hill has to the reopening of the abortion/choice debate. I still support choice, but given the abandonment of support for Zionism in certain quarters of the Left with the consequence being a breach in the progressive colaition, I’m not sure how much support choice advocates who also are in that anti-Zionist camp (e.g., Davies) should expect from their former allies.

I still support choice. But as per Scott’s comment above I note that some of the people who are vociferous in their antagonism to reopening the abortion debate have themselves participated in the reopening of the debate as to the legitimacy of Israel for its stated purpose as a “Jewish state.” Of course they are different issues but I would argue that the core idea of self-determination of the Jewish People was always rooted in liberal principles and supported by the broad liberal coalition that is being discussed here. All of which is to say that if one part of a coalition betrays another part, don’t expect the support that existed in the past to continue unabated.
