Conservative values are not Canadian values

Posted in Uncategorized by gritchik on July 10, 2011

This is total bullshit.

60% of Canadians did not want Stephen Harper as P.M.  60% of Canadians did not want a Conservative federal government.  I would suggest that Harper not get too comfortable, or too arrogant.

Actually, as much as I hate to say it, ol’ Steve may have a point. Although, Canadians becoming more Conservative is artificial as they have been brainwashed into it by a mainstream media at Harper’s knees, a lack of critical thinking and a willful ignorance to democracy.

Also, I don’t subscribe to that 60% didn’t vote for Harper thing. The same argument is easily brought for Chretien’s majority of 38%. It’s what happens when you have more than two parties in the running.

Also, those who sat on their duff and just plum forgot to vote or were simply not interested to vote, well, I’ve always contended that that was and still is a vote for Harper. So when you count those who didn’t vote for Harper, let’s bring that 60% up. If those non-voters really didn’t like Harper, all they had to do was vote. There was no excuse not to do so. Elections Canada offered many options for voters to do so.

The next thing is, my biggest fear. Canada becomes a one party country with the rest of the parties being ‘fringe’. I fear the Liberals won’t be able to rebuild and the NDP will implode. Even if the Bloc somehow rebuilds in Quebec, due to discontent for the NDP in La Belle Province, there is nothing to stop Harper to pass some legislation that no more regional parties can run federally unless they run candidates in every province and territory.

” there is nothing to stop Harper to pass some legislation that no more regional parties can run federally unless they run candidates in every province and territory.”

That tired old secret agenda meme yet again?
    What a stupid lameass statement.

    :… or too arrogant.”

    Too late for that.

Look at this way: 81.09 percent of Canadians did not want a Liberal federal government.

i appreciate that you are deeply opposed to Harper and that is fine but a more reasonable response here might be, How do we make sure this claim of Harper’s doesn’t come true?

This would be a very good time for Liberal Party supporters to humbly look at their own failings and turn own the outrage and anger for a while.

Look, the outrage and anger from Liberals leading into the May election was incandescent and it didn’t help a bit. Maybe you should try something different?

Libs and Dippers for sure, need to get past the “60% didn’t vote for Harper” talking points:

In Quebec, Dippers only won 43% of the vote yet won 77% of the seats.

In Nfld, Liberals only won 38% of the vote yet won 57% of the seats.
In PEI, Liberals only won 41% of the vote yet won 75% of the seats.

80% of Canadians rejected the Libs. I suggest you focus on trying to rebuild your party instead of whining about Harper, lest it become even more irrelevant.
